What is "subtle on a scale?" you might ask. Read on to learn more about how you can live the trends this Spring and Summer!
Oh, Spring – we’re SO glad you’re here! As creatives, it’s the time of the year when we want to shake things up – and our guests do, too! This season’s hottest trends start with fresh, subtle looks and range all the way to fashion-forward, dramatic looks. We call this “subtle on a scale.” If your look is on trend, yet understated, we have you covered. If you err more towards the edge, we have you covered, too.
Before we get into the specifics, how about a quick peek behind the scenes:
SPRING//SUMMER 2017 HAIR TRENDS
With the weather warming up, its time to brighten your look. Spring is all about change. Rose gold, platinum, light copper, and sun-kissed brunette are on high trend.
All lengths go this season. From bobs, to lobs, to uber-long lengths, you’re sure to find a style that suits you. Want to instantly turn back the hands of mother time? (Who doesn’t?!) Add long parted bangs for a soft appearance. Or go bold with a sleek bob and straight blunt bangs.
Flat Waves – Oh, that effortless looking, yet effort-filled undone look. (Don’t worry, video tutorial is coming. Standby.) Create waves using your flatiron starting mid shaft and twisting down. Straighten ends to finish this lived in style.
Straight & Sleek – For this look, minimal volume is IT this season. Afraid the humidity will wreck your style? Try a Global Keratin treatment for humidity resistant hair.
Deep Side Part – 80s ladies, this one’s for you. Add some volume instantly by flipping your hair over to a deep side part.
Cher Hair – This look is characterized by straight, smooth, one length-hair parted in the middle.
High Pony – Say goodbye to the top knot and hello the the high pony. To achieve this look, the hair is pulled up sleek and high with no bumps.
SPRING//SUMMER 2017 MAKEUP TRENDS
PRETTY, PRETTY PASTELS
When you think of ‘pastels’ the first thing that comes to mind is not usually ‘trendy.’ Allow us to shatter your misconceptions. This season, pale shades – especially peach, lavender, baby pink and turquoise – are not only trendy, but B-E-A-utiful. Wear pastels on the eyes using a soft wash of color or add a bold pop of color on the lid.
Peach is a sure-thing this season. It can be used all over the face – think face, eyes, lips AND cheeks. With peach, the main goal should be softness – no harsh contour or cut creases here. Add some shimmer to the cheeks and eyes to brighten the look. You’ll be glowing and fabulous in no time.
GOLD IN ALL ITS GLORY
Looking to amp it up a notch? Think gold. Use a gold glitter all over the lid and add a touch of gold liner above your wing. Branch out and try a gold highlighter for cheeks! Try a nude and gold eye look paired with a scarlet red lipstick. Perfect for patios, sundresses and a lovely little rosé. Yes way!
SOFT, YET SMOKEY?
Yes, dearies – this is really a thing. Soft smokey, “aka” subtle smokey, is the perfect look for warm summer evenings. The look is the same concept as a traditional smokey eye, blended smoke-like shadow on the lid, lots of liner top and bottom and smudged shadow under the eye – BUT less dark and dramatic. Think warm browns, bronze-y shades, or even a soft mix of navy with plums. With softer liner on top plus a coordinating shadow under the eye, add some pretty shimmer for good measure and you’re ready for whatever your Spring or Summer day holds.
And now, before we wrap this one up, we owe a few thank yours to the crew that made all of this trend magic happen. What’s a photo shoot without amazing collabs? To pull off the looks found in this incredible collection, hours of planning, plotting, scouting, shopping, cutting, coloring, waxing and polishing happened. 🙌 to our amazing partners and professionals:
